According to her, we are talking about about a third of the previously planned purchases. Earlier it was planned that Ukraine would import up to 4.6 billion cubic metres of natural gas, which means that it could additionally purchase about 1.5 billion cubic metres of gas.

The Minister clarified that the issue of increasing imports was also discussed during a meeting on 7 October with representatives of the G7 countries. "Ukraine is currently working on expanding financing for its energy needs, in particular, to increase the loan from the EBRD by $500 million and a grant from the European Investment Bank for €300 million.

«We have discussed the possibility of expanding these loans under the European Commission's guarantees, and we are discussing with some countries the possibility of providing grant assistance to increase gas imports," added Svitlana Hrynchuk.

According to her, imports are planned to be carried out mainly in October-December, but deliveries are also possible in other months of the heating season.

In addition, the Minister said that she is currently discussing with international partners the provision of humanitarian aid for Ukrainian power engineers, including equipment needed to repair and restore power grids in the frontline regions.

Earlier, on 3 October, the Russian army carried out the most powerful attack on gas production facilities of Naftogaz of Ukraine since the beginning of the full-scale invasion.
