«Today, we cannot dismantle all the debris, as both the ceiling and the walls with the crane beams leaned towards the engine room. It is necessary to dismantle the upper part of the machinery in order to get to the lower one,» said Ihor Syrota.

On Saturday, March 23, «Ukrhydroenergo» held a meeting with the head of the Zaporizhizha Regional Military Administration, so that specialists of the State Emergency Service with equipment for dismantling the ceiling could join the liquidation of the consequences.

Ihor Syrota also noted that together with the relevant services, they will try to restore the bridge crossing as soon as possible.

The situation at the Dnipro HPP dam itself is currently under control. There is no threat of a breakthrough.

«The extent of damage requires a thorough examination. However, it is already known for sure that it will take a lot of money and a long time to restore the station,» he added.

Dnipro HPP was the largest station in the Dnipro cascade, its capacity was almost 1.5 thousand megawatts. The station was important for the energy system of Ukraine.

Earlier, Ihor Syrota said that international partners can help Ukrhydroenergo in the restoration of the Dnipro hydroelectric plant.

As you know, during the shelling of Ukraine on March 22, Russian troops hit Ukraine's largest hydroelectric power plant — Dnipro HPP in Zaporizhzhia.

One of the rockets hit a trolley bus with people, which was moving along the dam of the Dnipro HPP. He burned.

Ihor Syrota said that there were two direct hits at Dnipro HPP — HPP-1 and HPP-2. It is not known whether it will be possible to restore HPP-2, it is seriously damaged. One of the rockets hit the support, the crane beams were broken. The engine room and electrical equipment will have to be completely restored. The scale of the consequences will be clear during the day.

Due to the impact on the Dnipro HPP hydroelectric power plant in Zaporizhzhia , a large-scale leakage of oil products into the Dnipro River occurred.
