On the night of 3 June, the temporarily occupied territories of Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions lost power supply.

The governor of Zaporizhzhia region, Yevhen Balytskyi, said that, according to his version, the Ukrainian Armed Forces damaged high-voltage equipment in the northwestern part of the region.

He acknowledged that all Russian-held settlements in the region were left without electricity. According to him, medical institutions have been switched to backup power, and the occupation authorities «are developing options to restore power supply».

Meanwhile, the governor of Kherson region, Volodymyr Saldo, reported that substations in the Genichesk district of Kherson and Melitopol district of Zaporizhzhia were damaged. He also noted that more than 150 settlements were left without electricity, in particular in the Henichesk, Novotroitsk, Ivanivka and Nyzhni Sirohozy districts. According to him, this affected more than 104,000 people and 44 social infrastructure facilities.

At the same time, another version is being spread in Russian publics — the electricity in the occupied territories could have been cut off by the occupiers themselves, in particular due to the work of Russian air defence systems, which caused damage to energy infrastructure.

As a reminder, on 2 June, shelling in Kherson region killed one person and injured 13 others, including a child.
