Residents of a five-storey building in the Inhulskyi district of Mykolaiv are concerned that they do not know when they will receive compensation after the dismantling of the emergency entrance where the gas exploded.
Anastasiia Skliarova, a resident of the house, sent a letter to the editorial office of NikVesti.
She said that a gas explosion had occurred in the building No. 87 on 4 Pozdovzhnia Street back in May. As a result of the incident, the first entrance was declared emergency. More than two months have passed since then, but no work has been started to dismantle it.
«In May, a gas explosion damaged the first entrance of the building. The entrance is in a state of disrepair and completely uninhabitable, and it must be dismantled. "On the first day, the authorities moved people to a dormitory, and those who could moved to relatives or other apartments,» says Anastasiia Skliarova, a resident of the building.
According to her, the destruction of the walls continues, which could lead to the collapse of the rest of the building. Residents are concerned that no work is being done to eliminate the threat.
«The emergency situation with the first entrance primarily threatens residents of the second, third and fourth entrances. The wall there has already moved back by 12 centimetres and is actually supported by relief pipes — this can lead to the destruction of the entire building. When a drone flies by or large vehicles pass by, the house just shakes, and the structure collapses even more», the woman added.
She added that the residents of the damaged entrance are worried about the lack of clear information about the future of the house, compensation for property or the possibility of buying a new home.
Another resident of the building, Olha Kasianova, said that immediately after the explosion, in May, they sent their first letter to the mayor, Oleksandr Sienkevych. After that, they received an act stating that the first entrance was to be dismantled and was unfit for living, and the second to fourth entrances needed to be reinforced. Special beacons were installed there for monitoring purposes.
«In July, we wrote letters to Kopytin, Pasichnyi and Haidu to ask for help. Haidu's aide said that this issue would be raised at the session. Kopytin replied that our collective appeal had been sent to the Cabinet of Ministers for consideration, and we would be informed of the decision later. Pasichnyi said that his MP's appeal was also sent to the Cabinet of Ministers to resolve the problem. But so far, no one has told us anything about these letters,» said Olha Kasianova.
She added that on 10 July, the residents appealed to the mayor again to find out whether the issue of allocating funds for the purchase of new housing had been considered.
«We did not receive a direct response from the mayor. Instead, we received a letter from the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration stating that there was no money in the budget for this, as it was primarily used to provide for the military. Therefore, there is no possibility to allocate funds for the purchase of new housing for the affected residents. That's all, there is no more information today,» the resident added.
On 23 May, a gas explosion occurred in one of the apartments on the ground floor of a five-storey building. A 59-year-old woman suffered burns and was hospitalised in serious condition. The explosion damaged the interior walls of the apartment, windows, balconies on the upper floors, as well as two cars parked nearby.
Following the incident, the executive committee of Mykolaiv City Council declared the first entrance of the apartment block to be in a state of emergency.
