If we take only the security component, Mykolaiv cannot actually join the grain initiative.

On March 25, the spokesman of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine) Dmytro Pletenchuk said this on the air of the TV channel «Freedom».

«Unfortunately, our enemy is still on the Kinburn spit and is attacking the Ochakiv district and the Kutsurub community. Navigation in this area is currently impossible, primarily due to the fact that the water area of the Dnieper estuary is in the zone of damage by the occupation forces,» said Dmytro Pletenchuk.

According to him, there are about 60 vessels left in Mykolaiv that cannot pass the waters of the Dnieper estuary in order to go to the open sea.

«Therefore, regardless of what agreements will be reached as of now, it is very dangerous from a military point of view,» noted the spokesman of the Armed Forces Navy.

It will be recalled that in March of last year, the chairman of the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Agrarian and Land Policy Oleksandr Haidu said that almost 100% of Mykolaiv ports are ready to join the «grain agreement». Mykolaiv Oblast porters are ready to participate in the export of Ukrainian grain.

According to him, in the case of the release of the Kinburn spit and the decision to join the region to the agreement, Mykolaiv Oblast will be able to start work in this direction very quickly.
