In Mykolaiv, two sports schools are being reorganized due to a decrease in the number of pupils.

We are talking about sports schools №1 and №7. The Sports Department of the Mykolaiv City Council plans to optimize facilities by merging them. In this way, Children's Youth Sports School №7 will be attached to the Martial Arts School, and School №1 to the «Victory» Sports School.

In a comment to NikVesti, the sports department emphasized that there will be no cuts among the coaching staff of the schools.

«The reason is that we have two schools with the same number of pupils as one before the war. We do not touch coaches or athletes, they continue to work and train. This applies only to the school director, the deputy, and the management staff in general, said the head of the department,» Iryna Bondarenko.

We will remind that in September 2022, the commission on economic and investment policy already announced a proposal to reorganize sports schools due to a decrease in the number of pupils. This issue was to be resolved at a session of the Mykolaiv City Council.

Later, during the session, the deputies of the city council excluded this issue from the agenda. Vitalii Kim took the initiative to remove the issue from consideration. He justified this by the fact that the City Council received a letter from the Ministry of Youth and Sports prohibiting the merger of sports schools. The question was sent for revision.

Iryna Bondarenko, head of the city's sports department, said that this time the Ministry gave permission for the reorganization of institutions.

«The Ministry of Youth and Sports agreed to the optimization, then we presented this issue to the session. Now the transfer acts are ready and the third stage of the transfer is being completed,» she said.

We will remind, in Mykolaiv, as a result of a morning strike on April 28, 2024, the building of a children's sports school was damaged.
