Communism = Ruscism: an exhibition depicting parallels between the crimes of the USSR and modern Russia was presented in Mykolaiv

The photo-documentary exhibition «Communism = Ruscism» was presented in Mykolaiv. The exhibition materials bear witness to crimes during the times of the USSR and Russia after the full-scale invasion of the territory of Ukraine.

The exhibition was opened on Tuesday, April 16, the NikVesti correspondent reports.

The task of the exhibits is not just to draw parallels between the cynical murders of Ukrainians by the Russians and the crimes of the fascists, but also to clearly outline the common features of the two ideologies, uniting them under the new term «ruscism», say the organizers of the exhibition.

«All the terrible events that happened after the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation on February 24, 2022, are a continuation of the genocide against Ukrainians, which was also committed by the Soviet Union. Mass executions, torture, looting, persecution for the Ukrainian language and culture happened both in the 20th century and in the 21st century. The exhibition on specific stories of destroyed people demonstrates that Russia's bloody methods have not changed,» said the organizer of the exhibition, Hanna Bershadska.

The exposition consists of 8 historical and informative stands, among them 13 stories of Ukrainians of different generations. The exhibition was created on the basis of archival documents from Mykolaiv, Volyn, Vinnytsia, Zhytomyr and Lviv regions and documented crimes of the modern army of the Russian Federation.

One of the stands is dedicated to Yosyp Boltovskyi, a resident of the Mykolaiv Oblast, a Ukrainian fighter against the communist regime, who was executed by the Soviet authorities in 1938.

It is known that the man fought against communism since the 1920s. Together with his cousin Andrii Boltovskyi and his friend Yukhym Chornyi, he called the peasants to revolt and opposed the arbitrariness of the Red Army. Thus, in the 1930s, he led a local insurgent movement against the collective farms, which was suppressed and punished by the Holodomor-genocide.

Not a single photo of Yosyp Boltovskyi was preserved due to the strict censorship of the Soviet regime, say the organizers.

Information on the stands is also duplicated in English. The exhibition has already traveled abroad, in particular to the Baltic countries. Also, the exposition has already been shown in Kyiv, Uzhhorod, Zhytomyr, Ternopil, Rivne, Lutsk, Poltava, Khmelnytskyi.

Everyone will be able to get acquainted with the exhibition in Mykolaiv until April 30.
