IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency) is a specialized United Nations agency established in 1957. Its headquarters is located in Vienna, Austria. The agency's primary goal is to promote the peaceful use of nuclear energy and to prevent its use for military purposes, particularly in the development of nuclear weapons.

Key functions of the IAEA:

  • Inspecting nuclear facilities to ensure compliance with international agreements on nuclear non-proliferation.
  • Providing technical assistance in nuclear energy, medicine, agriculture, and other fields.
  • Developing safety standards for nuclear facilities and materials.
  • Coordinating international cooperation in nuclear science and technology.

The IAEA actively collaborates with Ukraine, particularly regarding the safety of Ukrainian nuclear facilities during military actions and monitoring the situation at nuclear power plants.
