Russian strike on Chornobyl: fire extinguishing continues at the shelter over the fourth power unit

At night, a Russian drone hit a shelter over the destroyed 4th power unit. Photo: IAEAOn the morning of Saturday, 15 February, the fire in the containment vessel over the destroyed reactor №4 at the Chornobyl nuclear power plant is being extinguished.
This was reported by the State Agency of Ukraine on Exclusion Zone Management.
It noted that from 22:00 to 07:00, five employees of the State Emergency Service and two units of equipment were involved. The Agency reported that there were through destructions at the site with an area of approximately 15 square metres.
«There is no deterioration of the radiation situation at the NSC-OU industrial site and ChNPP in general. No release of radioactive products beyond the established limits was detected,» the statement said.
As a reminder, on the night of 14 February, a Russian attack drone hit a shelter over the destroyed fourth power unit of the Chornobyl nuclear power plant.
As reported, in June last year, the Verkhovna Rada ratified a framework agreement with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) on the operation of the International Cooperation Account for Chornobyl.
