Construction of six underground schools is underway in the Zaporizhzhia region.

Ivan Fedorov, the head of the Zaporizhzhia RMA, announced this.

Such schools are being built not only in Zaporizhzhia, but also in rural communities.

According to Fedorov, some of the schools are already at the stage of high readiness, the rest are at the initial stages.

The first underground schools in the region are planned to open at the end of October.

As a reminder, Lithuania plans to build a shelter school in the Mykolaiv region by the end of 2024. Similar underground institutions should appear in 5 more regions of Ukraine.

We will remind you that the Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Mykhailo Vynnytskyi spoke earlier about the construction of underground schools in the Mykolaiv region. This is necessary for the transition of children to offline education, so as not to lose students.

Such a school for 500 students will be built in nearby Kherson. Project and estimate documentation is currently being developed.

How do children study in frontline cities?

As you know, a similar project for the construction of an underground school was implemented in Kharkiv. The building is built according to the highest safety standards, has 20 classrooms and is designed to accommodate 900 students in two shifts. In general, distance, offline and mixed forms of education operate in the city.

At the end of March, for the first time since the beginning of the full-scale war, 24 schools in Zaporizhzhia returned to the mixed education format. Schools in Dnipro also operate in a mixed format.

And in Odesa, in 2024, almost all educational institutions will work full-time.
