The first day of summer in Mykolaiv began not with sweltering heat, but with a cool breeze and fresh air. Despite this, residents are not giving up on walks, relaxing in nature and meeting up with friends.
The night of 31 May was one of the coldest in the Mykolaiv region in recent decades. According to weather forecasters, this was due to a cold front, which meant that the end of spring in the region was significantly cooler than the climatic norm.
At the same time, May this year did not bring Mykolaiv residents consistent warmth. It rained periodically in the city for almost the entire month, and following a heavy downpour on 21 May, several streets in various districts were flooded. The worst-hit area was «Dormashyna», where water flooded the carriageway as well as the area near one of the supermarkets.
NikVesti has put together a photo report on how the city is welcoming the start of summer despite the unseasonably cool weather for June. Residents are strolling along Soborna Street, children are playing in playgrounds, and on the beach near Namiv, people are relaxing by the water and enjoying the sunny weather.
