Members of the Mykolaiv Regional Council have supported an appeal to the Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko, asking her to repair roads.

The decision was made during the 33rd extraordinary session of the regional council, according to NikVesti.

The first appeal concerned the critical state of roads in Mykolaiv region. Ivan Kukhta, a deputy of the Mykolaiv Regional Council from the «Servant of the People» party, noted that attention should be paid to the P-81 road connecting Mykolaiv region and Kherson region, as well as the T-1506 road.

The second appeal concerned the international road M-13, which connects Kirovohrad region with Mykolaiv and Odesa regions to the border with Moldova.

«The road is made of concrete, and there are large capacities concentrated there today, industrial capacities that provide funding for our region and the state as a whole. We wanted to help, to help make the logistics in this region on this road acceptable. And we ask that you complete the current repairs or overhaul on this section of the road», said Ivan Kukhta.

The deputies also stressed that the region is a frontline region, and the poor condition of both state and local roads significantly complicates logistics, civilian movement, and military needs.

«The projects for the M-13 road section were put out to tender. Two kilometres of the road have already been completed, and asphalt plants have already been built near the road. But the war has affected the work and it has stalled. We need to involve not only the prime minister but also MPs from Mykolaiv region», said Ihor Savchenko, councillor from the «Servant of the People» party.

As a result, all appeals were unanimously supported by 38 members of the regional council.

Earlier it was reported that more than 29.4 billion hryvnias is needed to repair Mykolaiv region's roads.

In addition, Vitalii Kim, the head of the regional council, said that due to poor roads, children in many communities spend more than an hour on the way to school and therefore cannot physically withstand such trips.
