A modern cogeneration complex based on gas piston units with a capacity of up to 80 MW is planned to be built at Mykolaiv CHP. The new equipment is expected to reduce heat costs.
This data is published in the DREAM digital system , according to NikVesti.
The project is designed to provide energy to about 160,000 residents of Mykolaiv. Its total cost is 59.7 billion hryvnias. It is noted that, with the support of the Swedish fund Swedfund, a feasibility study is currently being prepared for the modernisation of PJSC «Mykolaiv CHP».
The project envisages the installation of gas reciprocating units with a total capacity of up to 80 MW of electricity operating in cogeneration mode. The new units will produce not only electricity but also heat. It is indicated that this will provide the city with a more stable and profitable energy supply, and some of the outdated equipment can be replaced.
It is stated that the feasibility study will take a year to complete. Subject to funding, the project will be implemented in two years.
In June, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine allocated 1.1 billion hryvnias to prepare Mykolaiv for the next heating season. The city plans to install new boiler houses to replace the damaged CHP plant. This includes the purchase of 18 modular boiler houses with a total capacity of over 70 megawatts. According to the Prime Minister, this will ensure heat in the homes of the townspeople during the coming winter.
As of 4 September, it became known that «Mykolaivoblteploenergo» will receive 15 cogeneration units with a total capacity of 27.5 MW as part of a World Bank project. In total, the World Bank will provide $116 million to restore heating systems and maintain energy resilience in seven cities whose critical infrastructure has been damaged by Russian attacks.
As you know, on the night of 16 February this year, Russian troops attacked Mykolaiv with drones, damaging a critical infrastructure facility.
How much do the managers and supervisory board of Mykolaiv CHP earn?
Recently, at the request of the court and online media NikVesti, Mykolaiv CHP disclosed the amount of salaries and bonuses paid to the company's management and supervisory board members in 2023.
The members of the Supervisory Board of PJSC «Mykolaiv CHP» receive an average of about UAH 50-60 thousand per month under civil law contracts.
More than a year ago, on 24 January 2024, a journalist of the publication sent an information request to the company, asking for information on salaries and bonuses received by the management of Mykolaivska CHP in 2023. A separate item of the request was information on the amounts of remuneration, reimbursement of expenses and additional benefits provided to members of the Supervisory Board of the Private Joint Stock Company «Mykolaiv Combined Heat and Power Plant». In May 2024, the publication filed a lawsuit to oblige the CHPP to publish salary data. On 17 February, the Mykolaiv District Administrative Court fully upheld the lawsuit filed by the editor-in-chief of NikVesti Kateryna Sereda against the Mykolaiv CHP.
