In Mykolaiv, 18 modular boiler houses are being installed to ensure a stable heat supply. 18.2 million hryvnias have been allocated from the city’s reserve fund for the construction of utility networks to connect the boiler houses.

The decision to allocate the funds was approved at a meeting of the Mykolaiv City Council’s executive committee at the end of May.

The funds are to be provided as a grant to the regional budget to co-finance a project to establish distributed heat generation, which is being implemented as part of a comprehensive plan for the sustainability of regions and individual cities.

This involves the construction of utility networks for up to 18 modular boiler houses, which are intended to ensure a stable heat supply to critical infrastructure facilities and the residential sector during the 2026–2027 heating season.

According to the Department of Urban Planning, Architecture, Capital Construction and Development Project Support of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, in response to an information request from NikVesti, the total cost of the project, including the purchase and installation of 18 modular boiler houses in Mykolaiv, amounts to 1.8 billion hryvnias.

To connect the new boiler houses, utility networks must be laid and associated construction work carried out. 90 per cent of the project’s cost will be funded by the state, with the remaining 10 per cent to be provided by local budgets.

According to the Regional State Administration, once the new boiler houses are commissioned, heat will be supplied to 791 blocks of flats, 57 educational establishments and 8 healthcare facilities.

Work on the utility networks is currently underway. Provided funding remains stable, the work is scheduled to be completed by 1 September 2026.

In April, it was reported that there were plans to install 75 modular boiler houses across Ukraine with a total capacity of over 372 MW. This involved the installation of modular boiler houses in the Lviv, Kyiv, Mykolaiv, Sumy and Kharkiv regions.

The Government has also allocated 3 billion hryvnias from the reserve fund for the installation of 216 modular boiler plants in preparation for the heating season.
