Kherson region is preparing to introduce a mixed form of education in eight schools from the new academic year 2025/2026.

This was reported by the Department of Education and Science of the Kherson Regional State Administration, according to «Hryvnia».

Currently, all 169 schools in the region are working remotely, as the security situation does not allow them to return to the full-time format. In the 2024/2025 academic year, the mixed form has already been introduced in five institutions, and eight more are preparing for the transition — protective shelters are currently being built.

The department also noted that not a single general secondary education institution on the right bank of the Kherson region has been operating full-time this year. And there are no plans to open full-time education in the 2025/2026 academic year.

Although last year the region had plans to transfer some schools located more than 40 km from the combat zone to full-time or blended learning, these intentions were not realised due to the escalation of the situation.

In addition, there is a decrease in the number of prospective students: the expected number of first-graders for the next school year is almost a thousand less than the previous year.

Earlier it was reported that 64 out of 174 educational institutions in Kherson region may close due to the order of the Ministry of Education, which will come into effect on 1 September.
