SSU colonel shot dead in Kyiv

On the morning of 10 July, a colonel of the Security Service of Ukraine was shot dead in the Holosiivskyi district of Kyiv.

According to the Kyiv police, law enforcement officers arrived at the scene and found the body of a man with a gunshot wound. Currently, investigative teams from the district and main police departments, criminal investigation officers, dog handlers and other services are working at the scene.

Former intelligence officer Roman Chervinskyi claims that the deceased was Colonel Ivan Voronych.

«A worthy officer (Colonel) Ivan Voronich was killed by an enemy saboteur. A man who has been fighting the enemy since 2014 and was one of those who launched the direction in the Service that is now causing many problems for the orcs. With five shots at point blank range, while leaving the apartment, at 8 a.m. today, the enemy killer did his dirty work», he wrote.

Later, the SSU press service confirmed in a comment to «Ukrainska Pravda» that around 09:00 the man approached SSU Colonel Ivan Voronych and made five aimed shots from a pistol, after which he fled the scene of the crime.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing under Article 348 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine «Attempt on the life of a law enforcement officer, member of a public formation for the protection of public order and the state border or a serviceman».

As a reminder, former Ukrainian politician Andrii Portnov was shot dead on the morning of 21 May in one of the most prestigious districts of Madrid — Pozuelo de Alarcon.
