On 7-9 May, Russians are planning to organise a series of rallies and propaganda events in different cities of Europe and America to mark the anniversary of the end of World War II.
According to the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine, events are planned in Prague «for the restoration of relations with Russia» and «the 80th anniversary of liberation from fascism». In Sofia, the local organisation «Russian House» will hold an event with the distribution of St George's ribbons. In Brussels, the history of the struggle of European nations in World War II will be discussed.
In the US, Canada, and other countries, there are also plans for «Immortal Regiment» rallies, car rallies, concerts, and screenings of Soviet films.
Ukrainian intelligence emphasises that Russia is manipulating historical facts, using myths about «the victory over fascism» to justify the war against Ukraine.
As a reminder, over the past week — from 28 April to 4 May — Russia used more than 1,180 attack drones, 1,360 guided bombs and 10 missiles of various types against Ukraine.
Russian President Vladimir Putin declared a «ceasefire» from 8 to 11 May and called on Ukraine «to join». This decision came in light of the Kremlin's plans to hold a parade in Moscow on 9 May, to which a number of world leaders have been invited.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy rejected the offer of a truce for only 3 days, saying that «no one would help Putin». He also stressed that Ukraine would not give any security guarantees.
