The Norwegian government has approved the allocation of NOK 1.6 billion (approximately $153 million) for the purchase of ammunition for Ukraine. This assistance will be provided as part of a Czech initiative aimed at supporting the Ukrainian army.

This was announced by the Prime Minister of the country, Jonas Har Støre.

The Prime Minister noted that earlier the country's government allocated up to NOK 2 billion to increase the production capacity of the country's defense industry.

During 2023, Norway provided a total of about NOK 10 billion in military aid to Ukraine in the form of donations from the defense sector and industry, grants to international funds and mechanisms, and training of Ukrainian personnel.

We will remind you that on Tuesday, February 27, the European Parliament voted to allocate 50 billion euros of aid to Ukraine.

Before the vote, at the summit in Brussels, all 27 member states of the European Union agreed on a support package for Ukraine in the amount of 50 billion euros.

The main topic of the summit in Brussels on February 1 was an attempt to reach an agreement on a package of financial assistance to Ukraine worth 50 billion euros for four years, which was blocked by Hungary at the previous summit in December.
