Odesa may receive investments in the healthcare sector from French partners. It is planned to attract more than 23 million hryvnias for the reconstruction of hospitals and the purchase of equipment. The project will be implemented on the basis of co-financing, so 10% of the amount will be allocated from the local budget.

According to the mayor's office, the financing issue was discussed during a meeting with representatives of the French Development Agency (AFD) and Expertise France.

It is noted that this week, a French working group assessed the technical condition and infrastructure of four city hospitals to determine the amount of investment.

«According to preliminary estimates, the amount of investment in the healthcare sector could reach €23.5 million. These funds are to be used for the reconstruction of buildings and the purchase of medical and diagnostic equipment in the city hospitals. The project is being implemented on a co-financing basis: about 10% of this amount will need to be allocated from the city budget», the statement said.

The mayor's office reported that in February this year, Odesa signed a memorandum with France in the field of healthcare. Currently, the city hospital №1 is repairing the building of the rehabilitation centre, the equipment for which will be purchased by French partners.

It is noted that the Mental Health Centre is also being reconstructed and equipped with the support of Expertise France.

Earlier it was reported that the city's clinical infectious diseases hospital has been undergoing renovation for ten years. Currently, work is underway in the children's ward and bacteriological laboratory.
