In the Bashtanka district, the Sofiivka community has announced the start of a public consultation on the environmental impact assessment report. It concerns the operations of the granite quarry.
The announcement regarding the consultation has been published on the Novyi Buh community website.
According to the published information, the public consultation began on 7 April: comments and suggestions from the public are being collected. It concerns the activities of the company «GNES-S», which is registered in the village of Sofiivka and operates on a leased plot of 14.46 hectares. In fact, this is the Sofiivka granite quarry: the registered addresses of both companies are the same.
It is noted that the planned activity is the reconstruction and expansion of the enterprise’s technological base for processing rock into crushed stone products and the manufacture of asphalt concrete and concrete mixes.
«The company’s site comprises a full range of production and ancillary buildings (an administrative and amenity block with a laboratory, auxiliary departments for engineering, technical and logistical support, and a repair workshop), structures and equipment, and a petrol station, which will ensure the full production cycle for the manufacture of asphalt concrete mixes at asphalt mixing plants, and the processing of rock into crushed stone products at a crushing and screening plant with a capacity of 280 tonnes per hour. Operating hours: 261 days a year, 8 hours a day,» the announcement states.
The public consultation is being organised by the Ecology Department of the Mykolaiv Regional State Administration. Proposals will be accepted for 25 days. The public hearing itself will be held on 5 May via videoconference.
GNEIS-S LLC told NikVesti that the hearings are essentially needed to put the paperwork in order.
«Nothing is changing at the company; we are simply putting the paperwork in order. Everything is within the existing land plot; no new equipment is being added,» the company explained.
As a reminder, on 1 April it emerged that the company «Svit Zdoroviia» had, on its third attempt, passed the public hearing and received permission to build a petrol station complex with car service shops in the green zone near the Mykolaiv-based «Zoria» factory at the junction of Kober Street and Bohoiavlenskyi Avenue.
Mykolaiv residents spoke out against the petrol station in the green zone at the meeting.
Construction of a petrol station in Mykolaiv
NikVesti has learnt that the environmental impact assessment (EIA) report was signed by Vitalii Kindrativ, Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture, who served as Deputy Head of the Mykolaiv Regional State Administration in 2016–2017.
Against this backdrop, residents of the Ingulsky district of Mykolaiv have appealed to MP Ihor Kopytin, asking him to intervene in the situation surrounding the planned construction of the petrol station complex. Local residents are demanding that the green area be preserved and that the felling of 192 trees, including mature oaks, be prevented. Following this, the MP appealed to Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko and asked her to intervene in the situation.
It was previously reported that the Mykolaiv Department of Housing and Communal Services had identified inaccuracies in the environmental impact assessment report concerning the construction of a petrol station complex in Mykolaiv, in the park near «Zoria». They are proposing that the company abandon the construction or relocate the facility to another site.
As is known, on 23 February, a second public hearing was held regarding the construction of the petrol station in the park near «Zoria». Representatives of the developer faced a barrage of criticism from local residents, who vowed to defend the green space. In particular, environmental activist and head of the organisation «Eco-Oberih Mykolaiv», Larysa Leonova, highlighted violations during the public consultation on the construction of the petrol station, which is planned to be built on the site of the green space.
The Ministry of Economy conducted a second round of public consultations regarding the construction of the petrol station. The previous public hearings took place online on 2 July 2025. At that time, participants criticised the EIA report and accused the developer of plagiarism.
On 1 April, it emerged that the company «Svit Zdoroviia» had, on its third attempt, passed the public hearings and received permission to build a petrol station complex with car service shops in the green space near the Mykolaiv-based ‘Zorya’ factory at the junction of Kober Street and Bogoyavlensky Avenue.
In November 2025, readers of NikVesti noticed markings on the oak trees and expressed concern that the area might be cleared for the construction of a petrol station. Following this, environmentalists inspected the oak trees along Kober Street in Mykolaiv, near the «Zoria» plant. According to the inspectors’ findings, all the trees are in satisfactory condition, the markings were applied haphazardly, and there are no grounds for felling them.
