This is mentioned in a comment in the article NikVesti: «From rubbish to resource: how the sorting system works in Ukraine and whether Mykolaiv is ready for it».
According to the company’s director, Andrii Vetsalo, 600 yellow metal bins for collecting plastic waste have currently been installed in Mykolaiv. The collected plastic is sorted, compressed and sent for recycling to Odesa.
According to Andrii Vetsalo, the company previously worked with recyclers in Dnipro and Kharkiv, but due to rising logistics costs, it has switched to working with companies in Odesa.
«We are now working consistently with Odesa. There, the plastic is recycled into new raw materials. In particular, they produce flex plastic (which is used for 3D printing, — note),» he explained.

«I believe there will be more this year (in terms of profit from the collected plastic — ed.). We have systematised this collection process somewhat, providing vehicles and staff,» said Andrii Vetsalo, director of the municipal enterprise.
At the same time, he emphasised that the system’s effectiveness depends to a large extent on the city’s residents themselves.
«People’s attitudes vary. There are areas where people are conscientious, and the bins fill up quickly. But there are people who still do not understand that plastic takes a long time to decompose; its half-life is approximately 200 years,» noted the head of the enterprise.
We would also like to remind you that in Mykolaiv, from 1 July, tariffs for household waste management services have been increased for the municipal enterprises «Mykolaivkomuntrans» and «Obrii-DKP». A tender has already been announced to select the company that will build the sorting line.
Prior to this, from 1 May 2026, the tariffs for household waste collection by the municipal enterprise «Obrii-DKP» were increased for residents of the Korabelnyi district of Mykolaiv.
It should be noted that the Mykolaiv City Council has approved an updated operating procedure for the household waste sorting complex. The issue sparked debate among councillors, who argued that the cost of waste sorting would fall on the shoulders of Mykolaiv’s residents. They also proposed that the sorting be carried out by a municipal enterprise rather than being outsourced to a private company.
Meanwhile, Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych announced that the international French company Veolia had expressed interest in participating in the tender to manage the household waste sorting complex in Mykolaiv.
