The overhaul of the road on 6a Slobidska Street with the expansion to two lanes involves the repaving of the asphalt in the area where Mykolaiv CHP completed work in September after repairing heating networks.

As explained during the briefing by the deputy directors of the Housing and Communal Services Department, the project involves the global replacement of asphalt with laying in several layers, according to NikVesti.

At the same time, Artem Sapozhnyk, Deputy Director of the Housing and Communal Services Department, explained that the work carried out by CHP specialists and the department's overhaul were different projects. In the first case, the need to asphalt the road after the repair was due to ensure the movement of citizens.

«The CHPP did nothing more than fill in its gap so that traffic could move through it. This is the city centre, that's all. And our project is more global, and of course, as part of our project, we will do a full range of work there to ensure that it is a high-quality road with widening and two lanes,» said Artem Sapozhnyk.

For his part, Ihor Nabatov, First Deputy Head of the Department, added that it is good that Mykolaiv CHP has already completed repairs in this area, as this would have created additional problems if the housing and communal services company had carried out major repairs before replacing the heating networks.

«There is a service life of any road surface. And then there is the issue of external factors, such as tearing. When a gap occurs, it's good, it's really great, when the relevant organisation has buried it and paved it. But there are some adjacencies that we have on this small map. Unfortunately, these junctions are most affected by issues related to external factors. And it is from them that such destruction of the road occurs later. And it is logical that when we are already doing major repairs, we should do it all at once, as they say, so that we have a solid foundation. And it's very good that CHPP has already done its part, because it would be very bad if we did such a great overhaul, widened it into two lanes, with the ability to move both ways, and then CHPP comes in and starts digging. Therefore, we should be happy that the CHPP has already done its part and will not return to this facility later,» the official added.

In particular, the housing and communal services department answered whether the road expansion would create problems for private sector vehicles.

«You will see everything when we make this road, but it will not interfere with anyone, no one. And so far we are talking about the project, about the tender that we are currently at the stage of, there are even participants in the tender. When we get into the implementation, I think that many people will only thank us, because it's a very colossal project. It will be very beautiful,» said Artem Sapozhnyk.

In September, the executive committee decided to introduce two-way traffic on 6th Slobidska Street, from Tsentralnyi Avenue to 1st Voienna Street. Recently, the Municipal Housing Office announced a tender for the overhaul of the road on 6a Slobidska Street, which is expected to cost over 24 million hryvnias.
