Early grain harvesting is well underway in Mykolaiv region. As of 4 July, the region's farmers have already threshed almost 120,000 hectares and harvested more than 276,700 tonnes of new crop grain.
This was announced on 4 July by the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.
Mykolaiv region is one of the three regions with the highest harvest rates. It is followed by Odesa (516.2 thousand tonnes of grain) and Dnipro (37.2 thousand tonnes).
Overall, Ukraine has already harvested 865.7 thousand tonnes of early grains and pulses. The largest amount of barley was harvested — 501.2 thousand tonnes. Wheat — 277.8 thousand tonnes, peas — 83.8 thousand tonnes.
Also, farmers in Mykolaiv, Odesa, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions threshed 46 thousand hectares of rapeseed. They have already harvested 71.6 thousand tonnes of the crop.
The harvest is ongoing in nine regions of Ukraine. Farmers expect the country to reach the first million tonnes of the new harvest in the near future.
Despite fertile soils, farmland in Mykolaiv region remains one of the cheapest in Ukraine. In June, the price per hectare was almost 35,000 hryvnias, while in the western regions it was over 130,000 hryvnias.
