The municipal enterprise «Mykolaivelectrotrans» is going to purchase glass worth 3.3 million hryvnias. It will be used in case of shelling or accidents involving transport.

The relevant tender was published in the ProZorro system, according to NikVesti.

The company usually purchases glass on a regular basis, but the previous stocks were in the warehouse that came under fire, Yurii Smetana, director of «Mykolaivelektrotrans», explained in a comment to NikVesti.

«We buy this glass for rolling stock. After the last shelling, in addition to our buildings, the warehouse where we stored spare glass was damaged. These are windscreens for trolleybuses and side windows for trams. That's why we announced a tender. This is a planned purchase, we will choose as we need it,» said Yurii Smetana.

He also explained that accidents involving vehicles occasionally occur on city roads, so the company also needs stocks to quickly replace glass in such cases.

«Our trams and trolleybuses are constantly moving around the city. From time to time, we have accidents when someone drives into a tram or trolleybus and the glass breaks. In order to keep the rolling stock on the line, we need to have at least a successful tender to place an order and have the supplier deliver the glass we need within five days,» he explained.

As a reminder, Mykolaiv will receive another 9 trolleybuses for grant funds — the city council has approved an additional agreement with the EBRD.
