Almost half of Ukrainians — 48% — do not support any concessions on the issue of the country's territorial integrity.

This is according to a survey conducted by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology.

Regarding the possible official recognition of certain territories as part of Russia, 68% of respondents were against it. Only 24% are ready to consider such an option, and this refers to certain regions, not all the occupied lands — positions may differ significantly depending on the specific territory.

The position on the transfer of the regions currently controlled by Ukraine to Russia is even more decisive: 78% are strongly against it, while only 15% support it.

The only scenario that provokes a mixed reaction is the actual recognition of Russia's control without legal recognition. In this case, 43% of respondents are ready to accept a compromise, while 48% remain opposed.

However, the sociologists note that if the peace plan includes security guarantees and other important elements, more than half of the respondents are ready to agree to this option for ending the war, although without much enthusiasm.

As a result, KIIS concludes that public opinion does not accept scenarios that involve the official recognition of Ukrainian territories as part of Russia or the transfer of unoccupied regions to Russian control.

The survey was conducted by telephone interviews from 15 May to 3 June in the territories controlled by the Government of Ukraine and not subject to hostilities. A total of 2004 people were interviewed. The theoretical sampling error does not exceed 2.9%.

According to another poll, 60% of Ukrainian citizens declared their readiness to endure the war for as long as the situation requires.
