Mykolaiv Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych discussed the need for a special economic zone for the city with representatives of the Danish Export Investment Fund.

The Danish business representatives visited Mykolaiv on 31 March to discuss potential cooperation. Oleksandr Sienkevych stressed that creating favourable conditions for business is now a key issue that the city is discussing with potential partners.

Oleksandr Sienkevych also discussed potential cooperation with representatives of the Danish Export Investment Fund.

«We are already analysing how we can be useful to investors: infrastructure projects, production, and logistics. At the same time, it is important that business understands why Mykolaiv is interesting for investment — its favourable location, labour force potential and development opportunities», the mayor added.

In 2023, Mykolaiv raised the issue of creating a free economic zone for the city. The Secretary of Mykolaiv City Council, Dmytro Falko, believes that this will help open a window of opportunity for investors who will come to Mykolaiv and be ready to invest in business.

At the time, the mayor of Mykolaiv, Oleksandr Sienkevych, also spoke about the special economic zone. He noted that he had spoken to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy about economic risks.
