Ukrainians are experiencing unusually warm weather in January 2025. On 10 January, new temperature records were set at weather stations, with the daytime maximum reaching +15.4°C in Kherson.
This was reported by the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Centre.
«The reason for this temperature increase is that warm, humid air from the Mediterranean region has entered Ukraine under the influence of the warm sector of the cyclone. A more global reason is that the oceans, which have accumulated heat during the hot summer, are still releasing it into the atmosphere, heating it up», meteorologists said.
According to the Kherson Regional Hydrometeorological Centre, the previous records of +5°, +6.7° and +11.1° were set in 1961, 1959 and 2001, respectively.

On Thursday, 9 January, in Mykolaiv, forecasters recorded the absolute maximum air temperature for that day - the thermometer rose to +13°C.

As a reminder, on 8 January, Mykolaiv recorded an excess of the absolute maximum temperature for that day of +12.1. In addition, on 7 January, a new temperature record of +12.2°C was also registered.
