During the exchange of prisoners of war with Russia, which took place on October 18, another 95 servicemen returned to Ukraine, including 34 servicemen of Azov.

This was reported by the commander of the Azov brigade, Denys Prokopenko.

On October 18, Ukraine conducted the 58th exchange of prisoners of war with the Russian side, as a result of which 95 Ukrainian servicemen returned home.

«These soldiers defended Mariupol for 86 days, were ordered to leave the territory of Azovstal and spent two and a half years in Russian captivity. Thanks to the soldiers of the Mariupol garrison, Ukraine withstood the first blow in the spring of 2022,» he wrote.

Denys Prokopenko welcomed them to their native land and thanked them for their steadfastness and loyalty to the Motherland.

«The personnel of the brigade was eagerly waiting for each of you and did everything possible to replenish the exchange fund with captured Russians,» he added.

He also added that about 900 Azov fighters remain in Russian prisons.

«Our common task is to return everyone,» says Denys Prokopenko.

We will remind you that Ukrainian human rights defender, co-founder of Hromadske Radio and ZMINA Center for Human Rights Maksym Butkevych has returned from captivity.

We will also remind you that on September 13, Ukraine met 49 of its citizens who returned home after being in captivity. Among those released are servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the National Guard, the National Police, the State Border Service, as well as civilians.
