One of the largest Russian businessmen, the former owner of the Mykolaiv Alumina Plant, Oleh Derypaska, called for an immediate ceasefire in Ukraine.

He stated this in an interview with the Japanese publication Nikkei Asia.

In an interview, Derypaska criticized Russia's military spending and called the war in Ukraine crazy. According to US estimates, Russia has already spent at least 211 billion dollars on the war.

«If you want to stop the war, the first thing you have to do is stop the fire,» said the businessman.

He called for an «immediate ceasefire without preconditions».

The publication called Oleh Derypaska «one of Putin's favorite oligarchs.»

When asked by journalists what kind of relationship he currently has with Putin, Derypaska replied that nothing has changed: «They (Kremlin, — note) don't touch me, we don't touch politics.»

As you know, this is not the first time that Oleh Derypaska has spoken out against the war.

In an interview with the Financial Times, he stated that sanctions will not stop the war, and that Russian resources are needed by everyone, so we must look for another solution.

Oleh Derypaska has been under US sanctions since 2018 due to his ties to Putin. In 2022, Britain also introduced sanctions against him due to the invasion of the Russian Federation into Ukraine.
