The Kobleve community is trying to block the beach for holidaymakers who continue to swim and sunbathe by the water despite the ban.

This was reported by Volodymyr Panych, head of the Kobleve community, in a comment to NikVesti.

According to him, the concrete blocks that blocked the passage to the beach have been reinforced. He noted that now there are no loopholes.

«Raids and beach closures are being organised. They have already closed it (the passage to the beach, — note) On the weekend, there were no people there anymore», the head of the community said.

A ditch is also being dug on the beach to completely prevent people from going to dangerous areas.

«A ditch is being dug on the beach area. A canal is being dug. Measures are being taken to move to a safe distance so that there will be no problems with explosions and the like later on», said Volodymyr Panych.

Situation on the beach in Kobleve

As a reminder, the beaches in Kobleve remain officially closed due to the danger posed by martial law and a possible mine threat. Recently, NikVesti wrote that videos from the coast have been appearing on social media since the beginning of July, and on 8 July, bloggers posted footage of a large number of people on the beach, despite fences and warning signs.

According to the Mykolaiv Regional Police Department, the police are communicating with the administrators of recreation centres and with holidaymakers themselves, urging them not to violate the restrictions.

In addition, the entrance to the beach was blocked and information signs warning of mine danger were installed. Nevertheless, holidaymakers find a small gap between the blocks and crawl onto the beach.

Tourist season in Mykolaiv region

Due to the military situation, the seaside, including the resorts of Kobleve, Luhove, Rybakivka and Ochakiv, will officially remain closed in 2025. Instead, residents of Mykolaiv are being offered an alternative — holidays near rivers and estuaries in safe locations that are being inspected. This is described in the article NikVesti «The sea is off limits. Where is it safe to relax in summer in Mykolaiv region?»

In total, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the Kobleve community has lost 123.2 million hryvnias in revenue due to the ban on access to sea beaches.

However, there is the Tylihul Estuary in Mykolaiv region, one of the few places where recreation has not been banned since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Every year, this tourist location becomes more and more popular. To learn more about how the tourist magnet has changed over time and whether the influx of tourists poses a threat to the unique nature of the estuary, read NikVesti: «The Tylihul Estuary in Wartime: How Nature and Tourism Co-Exist in the Face of Growing Popularity»

In addition, more and more Ukrainians are paying attention to the beaches in Odesa and Mykolaiv regions. It is here that you can organise a holiday by the sea. To find  out which beaches are officially open in these cities and how safe they are, read NikVesti: «The rocket flies for 1 minute. We won't have time to run for cover». What will the 2025 beach season look like in the south?

In total, in 2024, the communities of Mykolaiv region received more than 1.5 million hryvnias in tourist tax, which is almost twice as much as in 2023.
