Today, July 7, a meeting between President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the newly appointed Defense Minister of Great Britain, John Geely, took place in Odesa.

As the OP press service reports, during the meeting politicians discussed defense support and bilateral cooperation between Ukraine and Great Britain.

The President noted defense cooperation with the United Kingdom, which enables our soldiers to defend Ukraine both at sea and on land, in particular thanks to long-range weapons.

During the meeting, they discussed the implementation of the security agreement and the preparation for signing a new document on cooperation between the two countries with a validity period of 100 years.

John Gilly assured that the Kingdom will continue to support Ukraine.

«You have the strongest friend of Ukraine in the person of Great Britain. We have opportunities to further increase support for Ukraine,» he said.

Also, the President together with the Minister of Defense of Great Britain listened to the report of the Commander of the Naval Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Oleksii Neizhpapa about the operational situation in the Black Sea.

It will be recalled that the King of Great Britain Charles III accepted the resignation of Rishi Sunak from the post of Prime Minister and held an audience with his successor Keir Starmer.
