The Verkhovna Rada has adopted draft law №11533, which restricts access to the State Register of Real Property Rights. The document was voted for by 231 MPs.

The MPs from Mykolaiv region also voted «for». In particular, David Arakhamiia, Oleksandr Haidu, Maksym Dyrdin, Ihor Kopytin, Oleksandr Pasichnyi, Ihor Nehulevskyi and Artem Chornomorov, NikVesti writes.

According to the new law, during the martial law and for a year after it ends, access to data on the location of real estate and cadastral numbers of land plots owned by legal entities will be restricted.

The Anti-Corruption Action Centre stressed that this information was a key tool for investigative journalists in exposing corruption schemes. They said that the adoption of the law «would significantly complicate the work of journalists in detecting real estate fraud, including corruption».

The restriction will also affect ordinary citizens: it will become more difficult to check whether a property really belongs to a construction company before buying a home or commercial premises.

The draft law was authored by Ihor Fris, a member of the «Servant of the People» party. Earlier, Bihus.Info journalists reported that he has numerous properties registered in the names of his relatives and close associates.

Earlier it was reported that the Verkhovna Rada did not support and sent back for a second reading the law on strengthening criminal liability for publishing information from electronic registers. All Mykolaiv MPs present voted for it.
