Trump says European leaders asked him to contact Putin because he ignores them

Donald Trump, photo: Getty ImagesUS President Donald Trump has said that European leaders have asked him to call Vladimir Putin, as the Russian leader has not responded to their attempts to get in touch.
Donald Trump said this in an interview on NBC's Meet the Press programme.
During the interview, he also stressed that in order to achieve peace, Russia must «give up all of Ukraine», noting that Moscow seeks to seize the entire territory of the country, and it is this goal that it must abandon in order to end the war.
It is worth noting that EU Commissioner for Defence and Space Andrius Kubilius said that the European Union could significantly increase its support for Ukraine by purchasing weapons directly from domestic producers.
According to him, if Trump fails to convince Putin to make peace, the EU could put forward more convincing arguments in favour of peace very quickly.
