Kremlin spokesman Dmitrii Peskov said that Russian President Vladimir Putin supports the ceasefire in Ukraine, but Moscow has not yet received answers «to a number of questions about the ceasefire».
Dmitry Peskov was quoted by the Russian media outlet «Interfax».
«President Putin does support the idea of a ceasefire, but there are a number of questions that need to be answered before that can happen. These questions are up in the air, and no one has answered them yet», he said.
According to him, this is due to «the lack of control of the Kyiv regime and plans for further militarisation of Ukraine».
«These questions are still hanging in the air, and no one has answered them. This is also due to the lack of control of the Kyiv regime... It is also connected with plans for further militarisation of Kyiv. All these nuances are still on the agenda», Dmitrii Peskov said at the briefing.
He also noted that Russia and the US share a common understanding of the need to continue contacts. In recent weeks, meetings and phone calls have taken place between Ukraine, the United States and Russia to discuss a ceasefire in the war.
Earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that a temporary ceasefire for 30 days could be launched, but Russia «is doing everything to prevent this».
Also, President Zelenskyy stressed that he was ready for any format of negotiations with the Russians, but so far it is like «talking to missiles».
On the evening of 4 April, Russian troops attacked the centre of a residential neighbourhood with ballistic missiles in Kryvyi Rih, killing 18 people, including 9 children, and injuring more than 60.
As of the morning of 7 April, 33 people were being treated in hospitals in Kryvyi Rih for injuries sustained as a result of the Russian ballistic missile attack on the city on 4 April. Of these, 18 adults and 2 children are in serious condition.
Earlier, Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Vladimir Putin «is afraid to tell» US President Donald Trump directly that Russia wants to continue the war. According to him, this is why Moscow is framing the idea of silence with such preconditions that «nothing happens at all or that it does not happen for as long as possible».
