At a time when Ukraine is fighting for its existence, the fighting capacity of the army and the unity of society are of crucial importance. However, today politics can override common sense and the interests of the state.

On February 5, the Mayor of Kyiv, Vitalii Klychko, stated this, commenting on information about the possible dismissal of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhnyi.

«Society is discussing and anxiously waiting for the outcome of the situation with the president's plans to dismiss the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Valerii Zaluzhnyi. I hope the government understands the seriousness of the steps it is taking now and the full extent of its responsibility. Because today, when Ukraine is literally fighting for its existence, the main thing is the combat capability and coherence of the army and the unity of society. Are the casting announcements aimed at this? Society is not sure. And this should be taken into account. But to finally stop the political intrigues and internal struggle,» said Vitalii Klychko.

He noted that it was largely thanks to Valerii Zaluzhnyi that Ukrainians truly believed in our Armed Forces, which enjoy the greatest trust today.

«As a soldier in the war, General Valerii Zaluzhnyi went through many difficult moments. Only he himself knows how much it really is. Unfortunately, today is the moment when politics can prevail over common sense and the interests of the state. And this moment does not depend on Zaluzhnyi,» said the mayor of Kyiv.

He also emphasized that it is necessary to finally stop political intrigues and internal struggles.

«We need to fight for one thing today — for the Victory of Ukraine,» Vitalii Klychko emphasized.

We will remind that the mass media and some politicians began to write about the resignation of the Commander- in-Chief of the Armed Forces Valerii Zaluzhnyi, but there are no official confirmations.

As you know, a survey conducted among Ukrainians shows that the vast majority — 72% would have a negative attitude to the resignation of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valerii Zaluzhnyi.

Also, another survey shows that absolute trust in the Armed Forces of Ukraine remains in Ukraine — 96%. There was also a question about the trust of Valerii Zaluzhnyi, who is trusted by 88% of Ukrainians.

People's deputy Yevhen Shevchenko, who was expelled from «Servant of the People», said that Valerii Zaluzhnyi framed President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and failed the counteroffensive.

In turn, the President's Office denied The Economist's assumption about a conflict between Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Valeri Zaluzhnyi.

Subsequently, Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that his relationship with the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Valerii Zaluzhnyi is purely «working».
