Russian troops, according to preliminary data, attacked Odesa with an «Iskander» missile with cluster ammunition. Such weapons are designed to kill a large number of people.

Dmytro Pletenchuk, head of the Center for Strategic Communications of the Southern Defense Forces, told about this on Radio Liberty.

«There are no examination results yet, of course. When they are already legally established, we will be able to operate with specific facts. But as of now, with a high degree of probability, it was «Iskander» and it had a cassette part. The explosion was in the air. That is, this ammunition was specifically created to hit «live force,» Dmytro Pletenchuk said.

He noted that the strike on a civilian object was targeted and called it a «despicable attack by Russian forces.»

«It turns out that ordinary peaceful residents of Odesa are considered by the Russians to be the «living force of the enemy.» Because it's a targeted attack. Its purpose is still unclear. Because there were no military facilities there. This once again confirms that this attack is, one might say, vile. Because perfectly understanding where they hit and with what, they should have understood the consequences of this attack,» emphasized Dmytro Pletenchuk.

As of the morning of April 30, the number of victims of yesterday's rocket attack on Odesa has increased to 5. A child is among the seriously injured. April 30 was declared a day of mourning in Odesa.
