In the Lviv region, a couple was exposed who were engaged in the preparation of a missile attack on the energy infrastructure of the region.

This is stated in the message of the Security Service of Ukraine.

It is noted that the spouses were recruited for cooperation by the Federal Security Service of Russia. At the same time, the main suspect was a man who has been serving a sentence in a local prison since 2023 for inflicting grievous bodily harm.

It is noted that the man came into the field of view of the enemy due to the distribution of posts in social networks in support of Russia's armed aggression against Ukraine.

«Subsequently, FSS employees established contact with him and recruited him remotely. After that, they switched to communicating in an anonymous chat, where the prisoner received agent tasks and step-by-step instructions for their execution,» the Security Service of Ukraine reported.

In cooperation with the Russians, the husband involved his wife «at will», who had to find the necessary energy facilities and photograph them with reference to the area.

The Russians promised to finance all the expenses of the «agents» related to intelligence and subversive activities, as well as to pay additionally. The enemy planned to use the received information to launch missile strikes to cut off electricity in the western region of Ukraine.

SBU employees exposed the recruited «agents». So far, the investigators of the Security Service have notified the intruder of suspicion under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine: part 2 of article 111 (treason committed under martial law); part 2 and part 3 of article 436-2 (justification, recognition as legitimate, denial of armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, glorification of its participants). He faces life imprisonment.

We will remind that on February 22, a 30-year-old local resident was detained in Mykolaiv, who was spying on the ships of the Armed Forces near the Mykolaiv Seaport. The man faces up to 12 years in prison.
