Russia fires at Ukraine with a record number of drones and missiles: defence forces shoot down 751 targets

Today, 7 September, Russia launched a record-breaking attack on Ukraine, using more than 800 drones, 9 cruise missiles and 4 ballistic missiles. According to preliminary reports, a child was killed and there are injuries.

This was announced by the Minister of Defence of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal.

The enemy targeted civilian infrastructure and civilian homes.

«A meeting in the Ramstein format will be held next week. The key focus is to strengthen the protection of the sky and our ability to respond with strikes deep into the aggressor's territory. I call on our partners to act quickly to transfer air defence systems and support Ukrainian manufacturers of long-range drones,» said Denys Shmyhal.

According to the Ukrainian Air Force, 818 enemy air targets were recorded during the night and morning strike:

  • 805 Shahed attack drones and imitation drones;

  • 9 Iskander-K cruise missiles;

  • 4 Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles.

The attacks were repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units and mobile fire groups of the Defence Forces.

According to preliminary data, the air defence system shot down or suppressed 751 air targets, including 747 drones and 4 cruise missiles.

Hits were recorded at 37 locations, and the wreckage of downed targets fell at 8 locations.
