In Mykolaiv region, 48 fires occurred overnight: wheat fields burned again

On 22 June and at night on 23 June, 48 fires occurred in the Mykolaiv region. Of these, 35 were in natural ecosystems where dry grass, bushes and reeds were burning.

According to the State Emergency Service in Mykolaiv region, four of the fires were caused by Russian shelling of Ochakiv, which also burned dead wood.

In addition, fires broke out in settlements in Mykolaiv, Bashtanka, Voznesensk and Pervomaisk districts. In particular, fires broke out in Nova Odesa, Snihurivka, Berezanka, Kalynivka, Shevchenkove, Taborivka, Veselynove, Pankratove, Lotskyne, Kamennyi Mist and other villages and towns in the region. Six fires occurred in Mykolaiv.

In two cases, the fire got close to wheat fields, burning 7 hectares of future crops. However, firefighters managed to save more than 30 hectares. The total area covered by the fire was over 20 hectares.

Earlier, the SES noted that the number of fires in Mykolaiv region had increased. Since the beginning of the year and as of the end of March, the total number of fires has reached 726, which is 82% more than in the same period last year, when 388 fires occurred.
