According to the SSU, the operation lasted several months. SSU agents mined the bridge pylons and detonated one of the underwater charges at 4:44 am today.
It is noted that the bridge supports at the bottom level were seriously damaged. The explosive used was 1,100 kilograms of TNT equivalent.
«In fact, the bridge is in a state of emergency», the Security Service of Ukraine said.
As a reminder, the SSU has already hit the bridge twice — in 2022 and 2023. The explosion and fire on the Kerch Bridge occurred on 8 October 2022. According to Russian investigators, a truck was blown up on the bridge, which led to the collapse of two spans of the motorway and a severe fire on the railway part of the bridge. Four people were killed.
After that, on 17 July 2023, there was an attack by a Ukrainian drone «Sea Kid». The MDI noted at the time that the strikes on the Kerch Bridge had once again worsened the situation for the enemy group in southern Ukraine and caused a «hysterical» reaction from the military and political leadership of the Russian Federation.
