The Chinese Foreign Ministry calls for a correct understanding of the role of the People's Republic of China in the «Ukrainian conflict» and not to make «irresponsible statements» about the participation of Chinese citizens in the war in Ukraine.

This was stated by the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China, Lin Jian, according to «Ukrinform».

«China would advise the relevant parties to correctly and clearly understand the role of China in the Ukrainian conflict, and not to resort to irresponsible statements,» Lin Jian said in response to a request to comment on new reports from the Ukrainian side about Chinese citizens fighting as part of the Russian occupation forces.

He also added that the Chinese government always asks its citizens to stay away from armed conflict zones, avoid any form of participation in armed conflicts and avoid participating in military operations of any party.

As a reminder, on 8 April, the Ukrainian military captured two Chinese citizens who had fought in the Russian army.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Chinese Charge d'Affaires in Ukraine and demanded explanations for the Chinese military's participation in the war on the side of Russia.

Later, the US State Department expressed concern over the participation of Chinese citizens in the war on the side of Russia.
