«The alarm was followed by an explosion»: Mykolaiv residents about the aftermath of a nighttime drone attack on their home

A nighttime drone attack on Mykolaiv on 28 December destroyed part of the roof of an apartment building in the Inhulskyi district. Eyewitnesses told NikVesti about what they experienced that night.

Despite the fact that no one was injured at the site of the impact, the roof of the building was destroyed by a third. Utilities are currently trying to cover it with tarpaulins.

Halyna, a resident of the affected house, admits that she did not take the air raid alarm seriously. However, the powerful explosion made her run outside.

«There was an air raid alarm. I usually look at it, but this time I was sleepy and ignored it. And then I woke up from the explosion. I ran outside, there were a lot of people, police. They wouldn't let anyone out. They told us to stay inside,» Halyna said.

Another resident of the building, Oleksandr, said that emergency services arrived at the scene in a matter of minutes.

«There were an air raid alarm. And in a few minutes, there was an explosion. Then the rescuers and police arrived quickly. They ran around the apartments, knocked, asked to leave. I wouldn't leave alone, and my wife has had two strokes,» said Oleksandr.

Utilities continue to clear the area of debris and remove dangerous structures.
