Mykolaiv's culture department promised a new «fabulous» entrance to the children's town, but no money

The Department of Culture of the Mykolaiv City Council has promised to build a new modern entrance to the children's town «Kazka» to replace the destroyed arched entrance from the side of the Regional Palace of Culture. However, there is currently no money for the reconstruction, according to a post on the department's Facebook page.

As you know, residents of Mykolaiv complained about the condition of the central arch at the entrance to the children's town from Soborna Street. The columns of the arch were cracked, and in some places whole pieces of concrete were falling off. For some time, residents of Mykolaiv continued to walk through the emergency entrance. Only a few days later, after appeals to the town's leadership, they decided to fence the entrance, and later dismantled it, noting that now there would be «a lightweight fence» instead of concrete arches.

The Department of Culture explained that the installation of the fence meant the restoration of the wrought-iron fence that had been there before the dismantling, along with the arch. It was removed only to restore the paving slabs. But the key artistic elements will not be restored due to lack of funding.

«This is not the final result. Eventually, a modern «fabulous» entrance to the town will appear on this spot. The plan will be implemented as soon as the necessary resources are available with the participation of extra-budgetary donors, including», the department said.

They also noted that the destruction of the arch began many years ago, and attempts to repair it were complicated by old trees that destroyed the structure with hanging branches from above and roots from below.

Currently, the entrance is being repaired and the «native» wrought iron fence, temporarily removed to create a new paving slab», will be restored,» the statement added.

It should be noted that preparatory work is currently underway at the site of the destroyed entrance to the children's town to lay tiles there. According to NikVesti, the work is being carried out at the expense of private entrepreneur Oleksandr Skrypin, who leases the territory of the children's town for attractions.
