In Ukraine, there is a lack of funds for the needs of the military. As early as September, defenders may be left without salaries.

Such a statement was made by the head of the budget committee of the Verkhovna Rada, Roksolana Pidlas, in the «Chronicles of the Economy» podcast.

Roksana Pidlasa explained that the funds intended for salaries for the military were used at the beginning of the year for the purchase of weapons.

«When estimates of expenditures were made, funds were transferred from the cell «expenditures for salaries (military)» in September, October, November to the cell «purchase of weapons» at the beginning of the year,» she said.

Currently, the government urgently needs to find 500 billion hryvnias to cover all needs. Of them:

  • 495 billion to cover the salary needs of the military
  • billion hryvnias for a pilot project on dental prosthetics and dental treatment of veterans at the expense of state funds
  • 400 million hryvnias for financial aid to Ukrainians released from captivity
  • 101 million hryvnias will be directed to support the system of execution of sentences in penitentiary institutions
  • 4.5 billion hryvnias to the State Budget Reserve Fund.

The deputy believes that in order to receive additional funds, the Verkhovna Rada needs to make a decision on raising taxes.

We will remind, in four months the average salary of officials increased by 32% and exceeded 50 thousand hryvnias.
