During his visit to Kyiv on 27 October, Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsakhkna announced a new aid package for the Ukrainian energy sector.
According to «Evropeiska pravda», Margus Tsakhkna said that Estonia would allocate another 150,000 euros to support Ukraine's energy system. He made the announcement during a joint press conference with First Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha.
«It's already getting cold, and Russia is carrying out brutal attacks on energy infrastructure, terrorising the civilian population,» he said.
The Estonian Foreign Minister also reminded that his country had previously provided about 700,000 euros to support Ukraine's energy infrastructure.
The Estonian minister's visit to Kyiv took place against the backdrop of Russia's ongoing massive attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure. As a reminder, Sweden was one of the first countries to decide to increase funding for the World Bank's Ukraine Relief, Recovery, Reconstruction and Reform Trust Fund (URTF) by 35 million euros.
This was followed by Norway's decision to provide an additional $150 million to support Ukraine's energy sector ahead of the winter period.
Subsequently, Germany also contributed €60 million to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund.
