Imports almost tripled exports in eight months: Mykolaiv region's foreign trade in figures

In the period January-August 2025, foreign trade in Mykolaiv region showed a significant imbalance — imports of goods increased by almost 63%, while exports decreased by more than 22%. The negative balance amounted to 43.8 million dollars.

This is according to data from the Main Department of Statistics in Mykolaiv region, according to NikVesti.

In the first eight months of this year, the volume of exports of goods totalled 459.6 million dollars, which is 22.1% less than in the same period in 2024. At the same time, imports increased to 503.4 million dollars, which is 62.7% more than last year.

Mykolaiv goods were exported to 77 countries. The largest deliveries were made to Turkey, Italy, Germany, Egypt, Spain and Algeria. Traditionally, exports were based on agricultural products:

  • grain crops — 56.7%,
  • seeds and fruits of oilseeds — 19.9%,
  • fats and oils of animal or vegetable origin — 10.9%,
  • and prepared food products — 6.6%.

Imports came from 90 countries, with China, Turkey, the USA, the UK, Germany and Greece remaining the leaders. The largest share in imports was accounted for by:

  • machinery, equipment and electrical equipment — 35%,
  • land transport vehicles, aircraft and floating craft — 19.2%,
  • mineral products — 11.3%.

Earlier, NikVesti reported that in the first half of 2025, foreign trade in Mykolaiv region underwent changes: exports decreased by almost a quarter. At that time, the negative balance was over $32 million.
