«But all these schools will also have remote classes. The law allows us to do this,» he added.
As of today, 88 shelters have been set up in schools for face-to-face classes, Anatolii Petrov said
«The task of offline education was set for us in early 2023 because we realised that we would have to go through First, there were two years of Covid, then the war broke out and virtually all of Ukraine was not ready for shelters. All this time, we have been cooperating with international organisations, charities and NGOs, and investing the local budget. To date, we have repaired 88 shelters in 2.5 years. This is actually 65% of the total number of educational institutions in Mykolaiv,» said Anatolii Petrov.
In 2024, the Capital Construction Department of the City Council spent 7.6 million hryvnias on the construction of shelters in schools and kindergartens in Mykolaiv.
Prior to that, the Capital Construction Department had named the safety component as a priority for its work in 2025. The plan was to build seven new shelters in schools and kindergartens, and to overhaul three more in hospitals.
