Starting 1 September, 52 schools in Mykolaiv will operate in full-time or mixed formats. This is 12 more schools than the previous year.
This is stated in the response of the Education Department of the Mykolaiv City Council to an information request NikVesti.
There are 64 general secondary education institutions in Mykolaiv, 81.2% of which will operate offline or in a mixed format.
«In the 2025/2026 academic year, 52 institutions will provide the educational process in a full-time, full-time-mixed format, which is 12 institutions more than in the previous academic year», reported in the Department of Education.
At the same time, Deputy Mayor Anatolii Petrov clarified that these schools will also teach children online, as some of the students are still in other regions or abroad.
«But all these schools will also have remote classes. The law allows us to do this,» he added.
As of today, 88 shelters have been set up in schools for face-to-face classes, Anatolii Petrov said
«The task of offline education was set for us in early 2023 because we realised that we would have to go through First, there were two years of Covid, then the war broke out and virtually all of Ukraine was not ready for shelters. All this time, we have been cooperating with international organisations, charities and NGOs, and investing the local budget. To date, we have repaired 88 shelters in 2.5 years. This is actually 65% of the total number of educational institutions in Mykolaiv,» said Anatolii Petrov.
In 2024, the Capital Construction Department of the City Council spent 7.6 million hryvnias on the construction of shelters in schools and kindergartens in Mykolaiv.
Prior to that, the Capital Construction Department had named the safety component as a priority for its work in 2025. The plan was to build seven new shelters in schools and kindergartens, and to overhaul three more in hospitals.
At the same time, Mykolaiv region was among the three regions where the largest number of school shelters were built under the programme «School Offline».
