Sienkevych complained that complaints to the contact centre in Mykolaiv have not been addressed for years

Mykolaiv Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych criticised the work of the city's contact centre due to the large number of residents' appeals that remain unanswered or unresolved for years.

He said this during a staff meeting at the Mykolaiv City Council, according to NikVesti.

According to the mayor, there are many unresolved complaints on the contact centre's Facebook page. Because of this, he says, residents are questioning the effectiveness of the tool itself.

«I see a large number of unresolved complaints in our contact centre. People simply write: why create a tool that doesn't work? I myself am faced with the fact that some of the issues I follow up on remain unanswered,» he said.

The mayor noted that some requests have not been processed for years. As an example, he cited the situation with tree trimming. According to him, after a resident's request, municipal services arrived at the site, got stuck in the mud, cut only some of the branches and left, leaving rubbish behind. At the same time, people were not warned that the work would be completed later.

«Some requests have not been processed for years. For example, regarding trees. Recently, there was a case where they came to cut the branches, got stuck in the mud, cut only part of them and left. They left rubbish and dirt behind, turned everything upside down, and didn't even tell people that they would return when it got warmer. This is just an example of incompetent work,» he said.

Oleksandr Sienkevych added that he plans to propose strengthening control over the work of municipal services in the coming months. In particular, this involves evaluating their work through the city's contact centre system «1588».

Earlier, NikVesti reported that in 2025, residents of Mykolaiv submitted 7,591 appeals to the city's Call Centre 1588. Most often, residents raised issues related to green spaces — there were 1,756 such appeals, accounting for 23.1% of the total number. In particular, 648 appeals concerned the removal of trees, 608 — pruning or cutting branches, and another 374 — cleaning up fallen trees.

Residents also frequently complained about problems with water supply and sewerage (1,446 calls), public amenities (1,123 calls), and rubbish (657 calls). In addition, the contact centre received calls about heating, road conditions, transport, housing maintenance, and other municipal issues.
