The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, announced the strengthening of positions in the Kharkiv region, where defense operations continue.

The head of state said this in his evening address.

We will remind that the day before Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that the Russian army had launched a counteroffensive in the Kharkiv direction.

According to the president, defensive operations continue in the Kharkiv region, in the area of the villages of Strilecha, Krasne, Morokhovets, Oliinikove, Lukiantsi, Hatyshchi, and Pletenivka.

«These are border villages, our troops have been conducting counterattacks there for the second day, protecting Ukrainian territory. Oleksandr Syrskyi gave reports to the head of the committee today and this morning. We are strengthening our positions, in particular in the Kharkiv region — we are adding strength there. Artillery works as it should,» Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

The president also added that the situation remains particularly tense in the Donetsk region, in particular in the Pokrovske direction, in the Semenivka and Netailovo areas. More than 30 combat clashes take place there every day.

Earlier it was reported that the Russian army is creating a new group of more than 100,000 soldiers. There is a possibility that this summer the groups will be involved in a new offensive attempt in one of the directions.
